September 2025 newsletter
Welcome back to All Island Martial Arts! As we head into our new martial arts season starting on September 8th, we’re excited to welcome all our students back, whether you’ve been training with us all summer or you’re returning after a break. We can’t wait to see everyone again on the mat! Good luck to all our students heading back to school—let’s make this year amazing both in the classroom and in your training.
Testing and Training Focus
Now that we’re back in action, our main goal is to get everyone ready for the next belt testing cycle. We’ll set the exact date once students are confident with their material—because at All Island Martial Arts, belts are earned, not just given. Consistent attendance and effort are the keys to success, and we’re here to support every student on their journey.
Schedule Updates
As the evenings get darker earlier, we’re looking at adjusting some of our class times so students can finish up safely and comfortably. We’ll share any schedule updates once everything is finalized. Thank you for your flexibility as we continue to keep things family-friendly and convenient.
Special Event
Don’t miss our FREE Children’s Stranger Awareness event on Saturday, September 27th from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. This class is open to the community, so please invite friends and family. We’ll also be teaming up with a local insurance company to provide fingerprint ID cards for kids. Space is limited to 25 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
Policy Reminder
Just a quick reminder: memberships can only be placed on hold for up to two months per year. The reason for this policy is simple—students need consistent training time at each rank in order to prepare for belt testing. Missing too many classes makes it difficult to qualify for testing, and we want every student to have the best chance at success. If a membership is canceled and re-enrolled later, please note that new tuition rates may apply.
Kicks, Tricks, and Tips
Want to make practice fun at home? Try working on your martial arts moves in a pool or at the beach—it’s a great way to add resistance and variety to your training. Just remember to stay safe and always follow pool or beach safety rules.
History Highlight
Did you know? Taekwondo means “the way of the hand and foot.” It’s a Korean martial art known for its dynamic kicks and powerful strikes. Millions of practitioners worldwide train in Taekwondo, and its philosophy of discipline and respect continues to inspire martial artists everywhere.
Fun Fact
Michael Hutchings, the founder of All Island Martial Arts, began his martial arts journey at the age of six with his first instructor, Mr. Johnson—who is now known as Master Johnson.
